Background
Firstly, PCMG identified a serious fault within the Distribution Use of System (DUoS) charges at the client’s main site. It was found that the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) had incorrectly applied the DUoS tariffs creating a significant ongoing error.
This error had been completely missed by the company’s invoice validation partner and correcting this error resulted in client savings of over £300k per annum.
As businesses can also in some cases reclaim overpayments they made up to six years previously, PCMG were then able to arrange for a correction to be applied retrospectively resulting a refund of over £1.7m.
Under careful scrutiny, PCMG then identified a range of portfolio inconsistencies, overcharges and incorrect supplier calculations, resulting in an additional £200k in savings for the client.
After six months, PCMG had completed their full analysis and report, claiming refunds totalling £2.2m – over 20% of their annual electricity spend!
